Connie Lou Abel

Connie Lou Abel, 85 of Tucker Run Road, Grafton, WV passed away Sunday July 9, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born July 27, 1937 in Grafton a daughter of the late Milliage Leo and Myrtle McDaniel McCracken. Connie was preceded in death by her husband James “Eddie” Abel on January 10, 2022.

Connie retired as cook from the Taylor County Board of Education with over thirty years at the Pruntytown Grade School. She enjoyed the time spent with the children at the schools where she worked. Connie was a faithful member of the Linn Chapel Church. She loved to be on the farm, working in the garden and sharing her crops with family and her community. Connie loved cooking and spending time together with her family and friends especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Connie is survived by three sons, Richard Abel (Jane) Grafton, Charles Abel (Tammy), NC, Ron Abel (Melissa) Grafton and daughter-in-law, Donna Abel, Grafton ; eight grandchildren, Julie Elliott (John), Daniel Abel (Tami), April Ross (Jay), Samantha Summers (Joe), Becky Ward (Jeremy), T.J. Abel, Jared Abel (Tiffany), and Ryan Abel; eight great-grandchildren, Caylee, Jordyn, Reagan, Shelby, Caroline, Sawyer, Violet, and Amelia, one sister, Anna McCloy, Grafton and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Abel, two sons, Mark Abel and James Abel, one brother, Charles Leo McCracken, six sisters, Betty Carr, Barbara McMillin, Mary Bolyard, Kate Abel, Jean Edwards, and Ethel Abel.

Friends will be received at Bartlett funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton, WV, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM and on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 9:00AM until the hour of the funeral service at 11:00AM with Pastor Duane Keener officiating. Interment will follow at the Lawler Cemetery.
