Charles Dale “Charlie” Poling Sr., 71, of Thornton, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 9, 1954, in Grafton, the son of the late James Earl and Iva Willa Perone Poling.
Charlie shared his life with his devoted wife, Mary Darlene Myers Poling, whom he married on June 17, 1979. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Charlie began his working years on a railroad crew in Pittsburgh before finding his calling as a truck driver for Bell’s Wholesale and as a mechanic for Charlie Kuhnes. He was a hardworking man who took pride in every task he undertook. Always handy and determined, Charlie loved tinkering with vehicles and could fix just about anything that had an engine.
A country man at heart, he found peace in the outdoors and joy in the simple moments spent on the farm. Above all, Charlie treasured his family — his greatest pride and joy. Time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren filled his heart with happiness.
He is survived by his three children: Jennifer Barlow (Joey), Beverly Heston (Jason), and Charles “Charlie” Poling (Angela); several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Shingleton (Bill), Alice Pyles (Paul), and Kathy Weaver (Mark); and five brothers, David Poling (Sandy), John Poling (Betty), Rick Poling (Jane), Lewis Poling, and Mike Poling; grandchildren, Whitney and Justyn, Sierra, Michael and Tiffany, Hunter, Brittany and James, Isaiah, Taylor, Jayla, Addison, Troy, Cloie; great grandchildren, Kenzleigh, Remington, Kingston, Addison, Audrei; mother in-law, Mary Myers.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Billy Poling and Roy Poling.
Charlie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
