Charles Frederick Bartlett 94, of Grafton passed away at the Taylor County Health Care Center on Monday November 1, 2021. He was born in Grafton, February 2, 1927, son of the late Cooper and Eulah J. (Newlon) Bartlett. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Goff Bartlett in 2010. They were united in marriage on September 7, 1950 spending over sixty years together.
Charles was a veteran of the US Army and served in the European Theatre of World War II. He retired as a carman from the B & O Railroad with over forty-four years of service, and loved working on the wreck train. He was a man that believed hard work was good for the soul and he lived by that. He was an outdoorsman and believed in his country and was proud to be an American. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and with cars. He liked watching wrestling. He was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post #3081 and the American Legion in Grafton. He never knew a stranger and always liked spending time with his family and friends. He was man that loved his family and was always there to help the family whether they needed help or not and stayed until the job was done.
Charles in survived by six children; Chuck Bartlett, (Diann) Earl Bartlett, Paula Bolton, Butch Bartlett (Tammy), George Bartlett, and Greg Bartlett (Becky). Fourteen grandchildren, Danny Bartlett (Pam), Tawnda McCloy (Jeff), Carrie Bartlett, Matt Greathouse, Jenny Trader (Ray), Donna Sturm, Melissa Sturm, Ashley Boylen (Jason), Courtney McKinney (Ryan), Allie Bartlett, Travis Bartlett (Alyssa), Randi Frye (Dusty), Beau Bartlett, Raven Antoline (Kris), multiple great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Charles is preceded in death by, four brothers, Richard Bartlett, Frank Bartlett, Neal Bartlett, Robert Bartlett, and one sister, Louise Rowe
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home on Thursday November 4, 2021 from 3-8 PM and on Friday November 5, 2021 from 9 AM until the funeral hour at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery. with Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post # 3081 and the WV Army National Guard of Camp Dawson.
