Carolyn Sue (Martin) Rutherford

Carolyn Sue Rutherford, 75, of Grafton, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Grafton, West Virginia, on September 25, 1950, a daughter of the late Russell James Martin and Wilma Jean Pratt Martin. Her beloved husband, Nathan Robert Rutherford, preceded her in death on August 26, 2014.

Carolyn is lovingly survived by her daughter, Melissa Kay Haller and husband Jeremy; her cherished grandson, Nathan Scott Rutherford and wife Emie; and her treasured great-grandson, Ambrose, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by a niece who was like a daughter to her, Lisa Wolfe and husband Bobby; three sisters, Patty Rosier and husband Larry, Peggy Kuhnes and husband Charlie, and Linda Moran; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Scott Rutherford.

A proud graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1968, Carolyn dedicated many years of service as the head of the housekeeping department at Rosewood Nursing Care Center, where her strong work ethic and caring nature touched the lives of many. In her spare time, she found comfort and joy in reading a good book and spending time swimming at the pool. Above all else, Carolyn believed deeply in family, and her family meant everything to her. She also dearly loved her faithful furry companions, Purrsia and Simba, who were always close to her side.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Avenue, Grafton, West Virginia, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., the hour of the funeral service, with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
