Carl “Peewee” Bartlett Obituary

Carl J. “Peewee” Bartlett, 54, of Simpson, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 3, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1971, in Clarksburg, WV, the beloved son of the late Carl E. and Mary Elizabeth Merritt Bartlett. Carl is survived by his devoted husband of twenty years, Curtis Hutchinson-Bartlett, with whom he shared a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering companionship.

Carl was a proud 1990 graduate of North Marion High School and attended Fairmont State College. For many years, he dedicated his life to helping others—first as a CNA and ER Technician at Grafton City Hospital from February 1992 until October 2005, and later as a cherished part of the Taylor County Emergency Squad. Carl volunteered with TCES for many years before becoming its director in 2005, a role he held with pride and compassion until 2017. In total, he devoted 25 years of service to the people of Taylor County. He was also a BLS CPR instructor, training countless individuals to respond with care in moments of crisis.

A man of faith and heart, Carl was a Lay Minister who found deep meaning in performing weddings and funerals, guiding others through life’s most precious and tender moments. He was deeply involved in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of kindness.

Carl had a passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, a hobby that brought him great joy. He treasured the thoughtful gifts of collectables shared by his friends and family, each one a token of the connections he built throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving family: one sister, Sandy K. Audia (Frank); four brothers, James “Jimbo” Moyer (Yolanda “YoYo”), Roy “Doc” Moyer, Homer R. Moyer (Tammy), and Michael “Jake” Bartlett (Kim); one special nephew, Chaise Bartlett; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by his father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Deborah Griffith; sisters-in-law, Veda Baker and Jeria-May Hutchinson (Donny); lifelong family friends, the Hall family of Joetown; and his cherished pets, Socks and Mr. Peepers, who brought him endless comfort and joy.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by one sister, Lottie Moyer, and one brother, Harry Moyer.

Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at 6 p.m. with Rev. Dave Harris and Lay Minister Kathy Stalnaker officiating.

Carl will be remembered for his kindness, his service, and the love he shared so freely with everyone who knew him.
