Barbara Stevens Obituary

Barbara June Stevens, 91 of Grafton passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the Taylor Health Care Center, Grafton. She was born June 8, 1933 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Hubert Stanley and Ada Virginia Hoskinson Reed. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Walter Marion “Steve” Stevens August 4, 1985.

Barbara worked many years as a Registered Medical Records Tech at Grafton City Hospital, a medical secretary for Dr Gene Harlow’s medical office, at JCPenney’s, and at Bloomers Floral. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. Barbara was an active member of many clubs and organizations including; the Naomi Chapter #12 Order of the Eastern Star holding many different offices, Business Professional Women “BPW”, Quota Club, and American Baptist Women. She was an active member of the community joining in where ever needed to assist. Barbara was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed baking cakes for others to enjoy. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed visits from her family, children and grandchildren, seeing their smiles while making memories with each of them was her greatest joy.

Barbara is survived by three children, Donald M. Stevens (Jackie), James Michael Stevens (Debbie), Pam Kirkpatrick;  five grandchildren, Kristen Seargeant (Jamie), Jeremy Stevens (Lauren), Jessica Ables (Dale), Jonathan Stevens (Jesse) Jared Stevens (Hailey); seven great grandchildren, Kurrie Ross (Brady), Lachlan Ables, Katherine Ables, Juma Stevens, Ellianna Stevens, and Ezekiel Stevens, Maddie Stewart; one great great grandchild Ridgley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Barbara was preceded in death by three brothers, James “Pete” Reed, Robert Ira Reed and Donald S. Reed; one son-in-law, Rick Kirkpatrick.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM with a Naomi Chapter #12 O.E.S. service at 6:30PM and will lie in repose at the First Baptist Church, 2034 Webster Pike, Grafton, Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM the hour of the funeral with Lay Minister, Brenda Rosier officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
