Andrew Leroy Mitter, Sr.

Andrew Leroy Mitter, Sr., 81, of Grafton, passed away on October 24, 2020, at his daughter’s home in West Union, surrounded by family. Born July 12, 1939 in Newburg, WV,  the son of Lawrence and Annie (Bolyard) Mitter (deceased), he is survived by 4 children:  Donna Mills of Killeen, TX, Andrew Mitter, Jr. and husband Mike Burrell of Valley Village, CA, Kathy McAfee and husband James of West Union, WV, and Roy (Ben) Mitter and wife Margaret of Grafton, WV.  He is also survived by 2 brothers, William and David Mitter, both of Morgantown, WV, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Mitter and daughter, Terry Moore.  

He was a veteran of the US Army, stationed in Germany, and longtime coalminer.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, shopping, and always looked forward to the annual Stone Family reunions.  He especially enjoyed Ms. Berly’s mince meat pies.  He requested his body be donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry in the hopes that he could contribute to medical advances in the treatment of Leukemia.  He will be forever in our hearts.  A private service will be held at a later date.
