Alfred “Scott” Cline, 78 of Lucreita passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Barbour County on October 25, 1941 son of the late William Alfred and Georgia M Posten Cline. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hovatter Cline.
Scott graduated from Grafton High School and served in the United States Air Force for eight years being stationed in Thailand and Vietnam. He retired as a Supervisor from Pratt & Whitney United Technologies Company in Bridgeport, WV with 29 years of service. He was well liked and respected by everyone who knew him. The children of his fellow workers referred to him as the “Candy Man” because he passed out all kinds of candy to them.
He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he was loved by all the children. He was manager of the Tigers Senior League Baseball Team in 1984 & 1985 and active in construction of the Anna Jarvis Memorial Park Little League field. He was a loving son, husband, dad, brother and papa. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, watching wildlife from his backyard. His hobbies were playing card games, crossword puzzles, watching sports and Bob Ross the Painter on TV.
In addition to his wife, Scott is survived by one son, Jay Scott Cline and wife Julia Anne; two granddaughters, Deborah Ketiv Cline and Anna Elizabeth Cline all of Grafton; one sister, Anna Belle Moats and husband Gary, two brothers, William “Bill” Cline and Richard L. Cline and wife Judy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by one brother, David Cline, and his father and mother-in-law, Willis and Bea Hovatter .

Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 2-8PM Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00AM.Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Judith Flynn officiating. Scott will lie in repose at the church two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post #12, Central WVA DAV Chapter 24, and their Auxiliaries, and the Air Force Honor Guard.
