Shirley Joan Turoczy, 84 of Bridgeport, Middleville Community passed away, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at United Hospital Center, with her loving family by her side. She was born April 29, 1934, in Taylor County, daughter of the late James and Fannie Preston Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Turoczy.
Shirley graduated from Grafton High School, Class of 1952. She retired from the Salem Correction Facility and worked at the Heritage Nursing Home. Her hobbies were being the queen of yard sales, reading, and going to eat breakfast at the White Front. She cherished her grandchildren and her many loved ones.
Joan is survived by five children, Beverly Turoczy, Bridgeport, Mary Ann Hurst, Flemington, Susan Tate and husband Gary, Shinnston, Robert “Bobby” Turoczy, and wife Kelly, Flemington, Jennifer Pinnell and husband John, Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Brittany Tate, Jared Knotts, Giana Tate, Zack Pinnell, Adam McQuain, Kevin Hurst, Jr., and Blayde Pinnell; one sister, Barbara Varner and husband Chris, Flemington; one brother, John Thompson and wife Rita, San Antonio, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Kevin Hurst, Sr.; one brother, Paul Thompson.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 2-8PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Stottlemyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Middleville Cemetery.
