Shirley "Christine" (McCauley) Gaines

Shirley “Christine” Gaines, 78 of Grafton passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born December 25, 1939 in Meadowbrook, WV, a daughter of the late Ben and Ruby Apperson McCauley. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Gaines.

Christine graduated from Shinnston High School. Her middle name was “Volunteer” and she loved working at Paradise Cove during the Buckwheat dinners. She also worked at the food pantry, the elections, and anywhere she was needed. Christine loved spending time with her family, and especially the grandchildren.  She had a strong faith and was a member at Wesley United Methodist Chapel Church and always willing to help a friend.

Christine is survived by six children, Jeff Gaines, Grafton, Mark Gaines and wife Pam, Grafton, Adam Gaines and wife Julie, Frederick, MD, Frank Gaines, Frederick, MD, Lori Smith, West Milford, Tammy Jocis, and husband Aaron, Cheyenne, WY; thirteen grandchildren, Zachary Gaines, Troy Gaines, Evan Gaines, Jared Gaines, Noah Gaines, Christopher Runner, Matthew Gaines, Sarah Gaines, Michael Gaines, Molly Gaines, Ethan Jocis, Reese Jocis, and Kennedy Jocis; six siblings,  Mary Ellen Gerwig, Malvern, PA, Charlotte Thomas, Gypsy, Charles McCauley, Meadowbrook,  Ben McCauley, Ravenswood, Bill McCauley, Ravenswood, Gary McCauley,  Negley, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son; Gary Gaines, five siblings, Janice Luciano, Ruby Moyer, Phyllis Long, Opal Martin, and Avon McCauley.

Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 2-8 pm and on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Wesley United Methodist Chapel Church, Knottsville, Christine will lie in repose from 1 0am until the funeral hour at 12:00 Noon, with Rev.
