Rebecca Cunningham Obituary

Rebecca Sue Cunningham, 69, of Linthicum, MD, passed away, Sunday, April 29, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born November 19, 1948 in Grafton, WV. She was the daughter of the late James Youst and Dorothy Lee Hoban Henderson. She is survived by her husband Ronald L. Cunningham, the love of her life for 49 years. They were married September 7, 1968. She graduated from Grafton High School class of 1966. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary - Taylor County Post #3081 and attended The Redemption House Life Center in Glen Burnie, MD.

Rebecca is survived by three daughters: Candace Lorraine Shreve and husband Rodney, of Cross lanes, WV; Celeste Charmaine Ford and husband Jeffrey, of Linthicum, MD; Sonya Grace Knotts and husband Loren, of Grafton, WV. She has seven grandchildren: Mackenzie Grace Ford, Makayla Rose Ford, Elijah Jeffrey Ford, Jaden Abigail Ford, Loren Lee Knotts III, Alexandra Rebecca Knotts, and Samuel Dean Knotts. She also has one sister: Grace Lorraine Duckworth and husband Jerry, of Middleburg, FL.

In her passing, Rebecca wanted to give special honor to: Pastors David and Tracy Whittington at Redemption House Life Center, Pastors David and Cindy Shank at LHUMC, Pastors Billy and Sarah Humphrey at the Brooklyn Church of God, Pastors Chris and Lori Lockemy of Epic Church and the many friends who loved her and always had her in their prayers. She asked for special mention of great friends and prayer warriors: Karen Shannon, Jeannie Dorr, Barb Hamrick, and the weekly Ladies Home Bible Study Group.

Although Rebecca never knew a stranger and loved talking with people, loved researching her family ancestry, loved scrapbooking, reading, and working with her church, her greatest passion was traveling to be with friends and family. She loved her family immensely! She and her husband taught their girls to love and serve the Lord. She always believed that if you served the Lord, the Lord would fill the desires of your heart.

The desires of Rebecca's heart were filled as she raised a great family and experienced and enjoyed several careers. Those careers included: File Clerk, Receptionist, Baby Sitter, Sewing Factory Worker, Switchboard Operator, Secretary, Head Start Family Educator, Senior Citizens Outreach Social Worker, Nursing Home Activities Director, Nursing Assistant, WV Health and Human Service Worker, Marketing Director of a Retirement Living Home, and an Administrative Assistant for the Salvation Army. She was definitely not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and "go for it" as she said she "wanted to experience it all."

A celebration of Rebecca’s life for family and friends will be at Bartlett Funeral Home 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton WV, on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM.
