James Arthur Preston III

James Arthur Preston III, 70 of Grafton passed away peacefully with his friend and caregiver Crystal by his side on August 1, 2018.  He was born June 20, 1948 in Grafton, son of the late James Arthur Preston Jr. and Katherine Dell Taylor Preston.  James was in the United States Marine Corp serving in Vietnam and Okinawa. He worked in Retail Management for many years.  James loved reading, fishing, camping and being outside. He cherished his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by his daughter, April Michelle Preston Krauth and husband Todd, Mechanicsville, MD; one son, Daniel Scott Preston and his four legged companion Ruger, Fort Worth, TX and their mother, Carol Sue Hunt; three grandchildren, Zachary Walter Tyler Krauth, Marlena Elizabeth Grace Krauth, and Zoey-Ana Marie Krauth; one brother, Fulton Preston, Lexington Park, MD; one nephew, Fulton Preston Jr. Hollywood, MD. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Preston.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, (DAV) 27 Limerick Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554. James was cremated and a graveside service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00PM. where full military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post #12, Central WVA DAV Chapter 24, and their Auxiliaries, and the USMC National Honor Guard.
