Franklin Winston Swank, 77 of Thornton, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born January 13, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, son of the late John Emerson and Mildred Clites Swank.
Franklin served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed being with people and being outdoors, and loved collecting antiques.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard Swank and Sharon, Connellsville, PA, Raymond Eugene Swank, Scottsdale, PA; two sisters, Sabella “Sue” Shincovich and husband Joe of Mt. Pleasant, PA., Margaret Collins, Scottsdale, PA; two sister-in-law’s, Louella Swank, Tionesta, PA and Mabel (Swank) Tressler, Connelsville, PA; close friends, Pam and Dennis Heldreth, Grafton, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by a sister, Jennie Lou Swank; brothers, Silas “Boone” Swank, Donald “Donnie” Swank, Edward “Eddie” Swank, and James “Jesse” Swank.
A graveside service will be held at the WV National Cemetery on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:00am. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post # 12, Central WV DAV Chapter 24 and their auxiliaries, and the US Army Honor Guard.
