Barbara "Barb" Frame Obituary

Barbara Frame, age 84 of Thornton, WV, departed this life and went into the open arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Tuesday, April 17, 2024.She was born July 4, 1939, in Evansville, WV, a daughter of the late Wade Monroe and Stella Pearl (Williams) Wolfe.  On the day Barbara was born, her mother, who had been hoeing in the cornfield, summoned her husband to drive to Denver, WV, to ‘fetch” her mother, Bessie Williams, to be midwife with God’s help, to welcome her first granddaughter, Barbara, into the world. She is survived by two children: her son, Stephen “Steve” and Ingrid Frame of Hedgesville, WV, and a daughter, Melissa and Roger Bolyard of Etam, WV; grandchildren, Kaitlynd Bolyard and fiancée Christopher Dunaway, Brooklyn Bolyard, and Addison Bolyard, all of Etam, WV; Jebediah Frame and Tobias “Toby” Frame of Hedgesville, WV; one brother, Neil Wolfe of Evansville, WV; one sister, Carol Hershman of Evansville, WV; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Harvey of Joppa, Maryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Chris Smoot, who found a warm spot in her heart. Barb’s special friends, Pastor Garry and Lynne Whitescarver, Karen, Larry and Dustin Huff, Robin and Brittany Bailey also survive. Other surviving special friends include Bruce and Loretta Clarkson, Kevin and Brenda Myers and Ava, Mark and Loretta Goff and family, Rocky and Kathy Loughry, Sam and Marta McCullough, Diane Warder, Nancy Judy, Rich and Amy Bord, and the staff from Taylor County Senior Center, especially Kaleena Mayle and family, who cared for her after Dick’s passing. Barb was grateful for the care provided by caregivers Connie and Rose during her battle with cancer as well.Barbara was predeceased by brothers William “Bill” Harvey, Junior Harvey, Richard Harvey, Lyle Kent Wolfe, one brother-in-law, Delmer Hershman, and two sister-in-laws, Beverly Wolfe and Susie Harvey. Special friends, Tennis and Phyllis Goff, also predeceased her. A special ray of light in Dick and Barb’s life, Sam Bord, also predeceased them. Two canine friends, Champ Frame and Sarge Huff, also preceded her in death.Barb graduated from Fellowsville High School with the Class of 1957, graduated from Alderson Broaddus College, and then graduated from WV University with a master’s degree in elementary education. While at Alderson Broaddus College, Barb met and married her sweetheart, Ira “Dick” Frame, on September 9, 1960, at Evansville United Methodist Church. They were married for 59 years, 11 months, and 24 days, before Dick’s death on September 3, 2020.She loved her children, grandchildren and friends dearly! While teaching was her career and there were many, many students that Mrs. Frame impacted over the years, Barb and Dick enjoyed packing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes each year with special friends for Samaritan’s Purse. “Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with volunteers like Barb and Dick to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. Also near and dear to Barb’s heart was Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU),  which strives to educate and legislate the public on economic, moral and safety issues affecting our country and to encourage good citizenship. For many years, Barb served in the education department and coordinated the coloring sheet and poster contests for local schools. She also served in the legislative department and was the local WCTU legislative director. Barb was honored to work with WCTU members Mama Christy and her family plus Loretta, Regina and Mary of Preston County. "Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." 2 Corinthians 7:1.In lieu of flowers, Barb wished for all of those near and dear to her to either pack a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child or make a donation to Samaritan’s Purse, as Barb often reminded the shoebox packers that each mailed shoebox costs $10 or more to reach the mission field around the world. The family wishes to acknowledge the efforts of Dr. An, oncologist with the Dorothy McCormack Cancer Institute, who did all he could to care for Barb’s cancer treatment. The family also wishes to thank the Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle for their love and care of Barb during her final steps before Jesus called her name. The family wants to thank Dr. Michael Hess at the Pinewood Medical Center for the care he gave Barb. The family also wishes to thank all of the staff of Bartlett Funeral Home, especially Nancy Bartlett, for their kindness and care in helping Barb determine her funeral needs and wishes. The family will celebrate Barb’s life and receive friends at Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton, WV, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 9:00AM until the time of the funeral at 11:00AM.
