Max Neil "Rusty" Cox

Max Neil "Rusty" Cox, 80, of Grafton passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Grafton, on October 22, 1936, a son of the late Ira Godfrey and Cora Edith Bennett Cox. Max is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Anita Jean Hoffman Cox, they were united in marriage December 8, 1968. Max was a Veteran of the US Army serving in 1955-1957. He worked at the brickyard in Thornton and also began his trucking career there. He had several different jobs driving tractor trailer both local and over the road. He would always joke that he had more miles going in reverse than most people have going forward. Max loved to joke and bring smiles to everyone around him. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling and playing bingo. Max made friends everywhere he went and was always willing to offer a helping hand. He loved to tell stories about his adventures while trucking. He is survived by one daughter, Suzanna Workman and husband Paul; one son Max Cox and wife Christy all of Grafton; eight grandchildren, Gail Workman, Paula Workman, Dane Cox, Shawn Cox, Kaylee Cox, Allyson Cox, Serenity Cox, and Max Christian Cox; nine great grandchildren, Matthew, Magan, Angel, Logan, Cory, Izzybella, Emmitt, SJ and Bailey; three brothers, David Cox and wife Karen, Grafton, James Cox and wife Kathy, IL, Robert Cox and wife Vicki, MD; two sisters, Mary Litzinger, OH, and Martha Bragg, Ill and several nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Randal Neil Cox and Max Lynn Cox; three brothers, William Darrel Cox, Luther Cox, Edward Glen Cox; one sister, Mabel Harris; brothers in law, Cecil "Bud" Harris, Richard "Dick" Litzinger and Joseph Bragg. Friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave, Grafton, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 2-8PM and on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 9 until time of funeral service at 11:00AM with Evanglist Bobby Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery, Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post #12, Central WVA DAV Chapter 24, and their Auxiliaries, and the WV Army National Honor Guard of Camp Dawson.
