John Carlos Bevilock, 61 of Valley Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at United Hospital Center. He was born December 9, 1955 in Grafton, a son of the late John and Lolah (Allen) Bevilock. On July 14, 1976, he married Debbie Sue (Gillespie) Bevilock, who will miss him dearly after forty one years of marriage. John is survived by his two daughters, Jonnett Claypool and husband of Howard of Quiet Dell and Carla Bevilock of Grafton; granddaughter, Morgan Claypool and grandson Marcus Bevilock. He is also survived by his two brothers, Elwood "Woody" Weaver and wife Kathy of Spotsylvania, VA and Donnard "Don" Weaver and wife Debbie of Grafton, and one sister, Beverly Beam of Jane Lew. He leaves behind his life-long friend, Steve "Coach" Thompson of Fairmont; long time race competitor and good friends, Randy Kerns, Brent Trimble, Nick and Matt Mewshaw, Nate Annon and William Nestor, all of whom he thought of as his own. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one nephew, Brian Weaver and numerous aunts and uncles. John was a 1975 graduate of Grafton High School and earned a business degree from Fairmont State College. He began his coal mining career in 1976 with Martinka Coal Mines in Marion County working over the years as a shuttle car operator, section foreman and shift foreman. He was owner/operator of Mystic Mining in Taylor County and also worked as mine foreman, Superintendent and safety director for Global Mining. He later assumed the role of Executive Vice President for David Stanley Consultants prior to his retirement in 2016. Masonic Affiliations: Grafton Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A. M., Copestone Chapter No. 12, R.A.M., DeMolay Commandery No. 11, K.T., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Clarksburg. In his younger years, John participated in the Future Farmers of America club by raising his own livestock. He proudly continued to support the local youth of Taylor County annually in the Ham, Bacon and Egg Sale. In his spare time, he was involved with youth sports and go-carting with his grandchildren. He was a motorcycle and dirt bike enthusiast, building and fine-tuning countless numbers of motors and bikes from the ground up, as well as sponsoring and supporting young riders from across the country. He was a member of the American Motorcyclist Association. He also enjoyed remote controlled car racing in the area for many years. John was loved by his family, especially by his wife, daughters and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton, on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 12 Noon to 8:00PM and funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church of Grafton on 119 South Grafton at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 22, 2017 with Rev. Orville Wright officiating. He will lie in repose one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park. Grafton Lodge # 15 A.F. & A.M. will hold Masonic Graveside Rites.
