Drake Warren Koontz

Drake Warren Koontz, 18 of Grafton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 4, 2017. He was born on July 27, 1998, survived by his loving parents, Ronald and Shannon Koontz, three brothers, Cody Koontz (girlfriend Amanda Stewart), Rondo Koontz, and Reece Simpson Koontz, (wife Anayansi, and two nieces, Maxeen and Mia). He is also survived by his one sister, Shakira Koontz; his paternal grandfather, Tom Koontz, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death, by his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Theressa Weidlich, and paternal grandmother Reta Regina Upton Koontz. He was a six time youth state champion, a world class Wrestler. He received two presidential physical fitness awards, and a National Ju-Jitsu Gold Medal. He was a Physical Education National Champion, Star fullback football player, Taekwondo National Champion, National Grappling Champion, Eastern World Kumite Gold Medalist, Brute Adidas National all American Wrestling Champion, two time Viper pit Wrestling Champion, four time State Runner up and one time state champion in Bear Cub Football. Drake was a honored student at GHS where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA and with honors, scholarships, and the golden hammer award. He was awarded Option Pathway math award, and the student of the month award. He was an excellent skate boarder, loved to help edit games, listened to and created rap music, made helpful gaming videos, and played his x-box nationally. He planned to attend college, to play football, and train for the NFL. He had dreams of enlisting into the marines.
He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, who loved his family and friends dearly. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. Friends and family will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave, Grafton, where viewing will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4-8PM and on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 12-8PM, and Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 1:00pm until time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church on 119 in Grafton with Reverend Orville Wright officiating. Drake will be placed in a Granit Crypt within the mausoleum at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery, Philippi, WV. Online condolences can be sent to www.bartlettfuneralhomewv.com.
